Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 pound shrimp well-drained
  • 1 cup crab
  • 1 cup cheese (Mozzarella or Provolone) shredded
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
For the Biscuit Dough
  • 1 package biscuit dough pre-made
Optional Add-Ins
  • 2 tablespoons herbs (Dill or Parsley) chopped
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning (Old Bay or Cajun)

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté shrimp and crab for about 5–7 minutes until shrimp turns pink and opaque. Add a splash of lemon juice and season with salt and pepper. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and help the flavors meld together beautifully. Remove from heat and set aside, allowing the mixture to cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked shrimp and crab mixture with shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese, minced garlic, and optional herbs or seasonings like Old Bay. Stir everything well until the filling is evenly distributed, making sure the cheese is thoroughly integrated. Let this mixture rest while you prepare the biscuit dough.
  3. Roll out pre-made biscuit dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. If you’re using homemade dough, follow the recipe instructions for rolling. Cut the dough into squares or circles large enough to hold a spoonful of the savory shrimp and crab filling.
  4. Spoon a generous amount of the filling onto the center of each biscuit dough piece. Carefully fold the dough over or pinch the edges to completely encase the filling, ensuring there are no open seams. Place the assembled melts on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the assembled Shrimp and Crab Biscuit Melts for 8–10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and baked through.
  6. Remove the biscuit melts from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. These treats are best enjoyed warm.
