Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin tin.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Mash ripe bananas in a separate bowl and mix with sugar until blended.
  4. Stir in egg and vegetable oil to the banana-sugar mixture until smooth.
  5. Add vanilla extract and ½ cup of Nutella, stirring until well combined.
  6. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  8. Spoon batter into muffin cups, filling two-thirds full, and swirl additional Nutella on top.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
  10. Cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
