Step-by-Step Instructions for Bahn Mi Sandwich
  1. In a blender, combine lemongrass, shallots, fish sauce, oyster sauce, lime juice, ginger, garlic, toasted sesame oil, chili paste, ground coriander, and Chinese 5 spice. Blend until smooth and fragrant.
  2. Thinly slice the pork tenderloin and toss in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for 4-8 hours.
  3. In a small pot, heat rice vinegar, sugar, and water until sugar dissolves. Pour over chopped carrots and daikon, cool, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook marinated pork slices for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  5. Slice the baguette in half and toast the cut sides on the grill or under a broiler until warm and crispy.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on both sides of the toasted baguette. Layer grilled pork, pickled vegetables, cucumber, jalapeños, and cilantro.
