Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine milk, softened butter, egg, sourdough starter, sugar, and salt. Mix on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes until a smooth and elastic dough forms.
- Cover the bowl and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Perform a series of stretch and folds after 30 minutes, then cover and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
- Cover tightly and let the dough rise at room temperature until it doubles in size, about 8-10 hours.
Filling and Shaping
- Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape, approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- Mix softened butter with minced garlic and spread evenly over the dough. Sprinkle cheddar cheese and fresh herbs on top.
- Tightly roll the dough into a log shape and slice into 8 equal pieces.
- Place the sliced rolls into a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for about 2 hours.
