Description

Sweet Spicy Sticky Chicken is a delicious dish featuring tender chicken thighs marinated in a flavorful blend of soy sauce, honey, and spices, then baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for more flavor.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it on the wire rack. Reserve the marinade for later use.
  5. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. While the chicken is baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth, then add it to the boiling marinade. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Once the chicken is done, brush it with the thickened sauce and return it to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. Remove the chicken from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, broil the chicken for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
  • Substitute chicken thighs with chicken breasts for a leaner option, adjusting cooking time as needed.
