Description
Delicious and fluffy Vanilla Mallorca Bread Rolls, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture, then gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
- Cut the dough into strips about 2 inches wide. Roll each strip into a spiral shape and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of almond extract along with the vanilla.
- You can also substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
