Description

Delicious and fluffy Vanilla Mallorca Bread Rolls, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture, then gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  8. Cut the dough into strips about 2 inches wide. Roll each strip into a spiral shape and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  9. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of almond extract along with the vanilla.
  • You can also substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
