Description
Tuxedo Bar Cake is an indulgent dessert featuring layers of rich chocolate cake, creamy frosting, and a decadent ganache topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (for frosting)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for ganache)
- ¼ cup heavy cream (for ganache)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the cake cools, prepare the frosting by beating the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gently fold in the whipped cream until fully incorporated.
- Once the cake is completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
- For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips, stirring until melted and smooth. Let it cool slightly before drizzling over the frosted cake.
- Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to set the ganache before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
- Substitute the semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate or white chocolate for a different taste.
