Description

A delicious and tender cube steak cooked in a crock pot with savory gravy, perfect for a comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds cube steak
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Season the cube steak with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat and sear the cube steak for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Transfer the steak to the crock pot.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
  5. Pour in the beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and parsley. Stir well to combine.
  6. Pour the mixture over the cube steak in the crock pot.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the steak is tender.
  8. About 30 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry.
  9. Stir the slurry into the gravy in the crock pot and let it cook for an additional 30 minutes to thicken.
  10. Serve the cube steak with the savory gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add sliced mushrooms to the crock pot along with the onions.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the gravy mixture.
