Description

A delightful dessert recipe combining fresh strawberries with creamy mascarpone and ladyfingers, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 tablespoon coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Toss gently and let them sit for about 15 minutes to release their juices.
  2. In a separate large bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream until well combined and smooth.
  4. In a shallow dish, mix the brewed coffee with the coffee liqueur, if using. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  5. In a 9×9-inch dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, followed by half of the macerated strawberries.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and strawberries.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with additional fresh strawberries if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half of the mascarpone cheese with Greek yogurt.
  • Experiment with other fruits like raspberries or blueberries for a different flavor profile.
