- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if using frozen popcorn chicken. Spread the popcorn chicken on a baking sheet and bake according to package instructions until crispy, usually about 15-20 minutes.
- While the chicken is baking, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
- Once the popcorn chicken is done baking, transfer it to a large mixing bowl. Pour the spicy glaze over the chicken and toss until evenly coated.
- Return the glazed chicken to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For a milder version, reduce the amount of sriracha and cayenne pepper or substitute with a sweet chili sauce.
- Add some chopped bell peppers or broccoli to the baking sheet during the last 5 minutes of cooking for a colorful and nutritious side.
