Description
Spicy Creamy Paprika Chicken is a flavorful dish featuring tender chicken thighs cooked in a rich and creamy paprika sauce, perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the chicken thighs to the skillet, seasoning them with smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until the chicken is browned and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Stir in the heavy cream and lemon juice, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, coating it in the creamy sauce. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or coconut milk.
- Serve over rice, pasta, or with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
