Description
Delicious smash burgers topped with a creamy baconnaise sauce for an ultimate flavor experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Butter, for toasting buns
Instructions
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- Prepare the baconnaise sauce by mixing mayonnaise, chopped bacon, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl. Set aside.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each) and form each portion into a loose ball without compacting it too much. Season each ball with salt and pepper.
- Once the skillet is hot, place the beef balls on the skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned.
- Flip the patties, add a slice of cheese to each, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Spread butter on the insides of the hamburger buns and toast them on a separate skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading a generous amount of baconnaise sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a burger patty on top, then add any additional toppings you desire (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.). Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the baconnaise sauce.
- You can swap out the American cheese for cheddar or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
