Description

Delicious smash burgers topped with a creamy baconnaise sauce for an ultimate flavor experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Butter, for toasting buns

Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Prepare the baconnaise sauce by mixing mayonnaise, chopped bacon, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each) and form each portion into a loose ball without compacting it too much. Season each ball with salt and pepper.
  4. Once the skillet is hot, place the beef balls on the skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned.
  5. Flip the patties, add a slice of cheese to each, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  6. Spread butter on the insides of the hamburger buns and toast them on a separate skillet until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading a generous amount of baconnaise sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a burger patty on top, then add any additional toppings you desire (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.). Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the baconnaise sauce.
  • You can swap out the American cheese for cheddar or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
