Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds flank steak, sliced thin against the grain
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 cup green onions, chopped (reserve some for garnish)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, vegetable oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Place the sliced flank steak in the slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over the beef. Stir to coat the meat evenly.
  3. Add the beef broth to the slow cooker and mix well.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.
  5. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the chopped green onions.
  6. Serve over cooked white rice and garnish with additional green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture.
  • Substitute flank steak with sirloin or chuck roast for a different flavor and texture.
