Description

A delicious and easy recipe for shrimp and vegetable dumplings that are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 package (14 ounces) round dumpling wrappers
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • Water for steaming

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, cabbage, carrots, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Place a dumpling wrapper in the palm of your hand. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the shrimp and vegetable mixture into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper in half, and pinch the edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of cooking oil. Arrange the dumplings in the skillet, making sure they are not touching. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
  4. Carefully add about 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover immediately with a lid. Allow the dumplings to steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp is cooked through and the wrappers are tender.
  5. Remove the lid and let the dumplings cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to crisp up the bottoms. Serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute the shrimp with finely chopped mushrooms or tofu and add more vegetables like bell peppers or spinach.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces such as sweet chili sauce or a vinegar-based sauce for added flavor.
