Description

A delicious homemade Salisbury Steak recipe made with ground beef and served with a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add beef broth, ketchup, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth, then stir into the broth mixture. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.
  6. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice, spooning extra sauce over the top.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms to the sauce for extra flavor and texture.
