Description
A delicious homemade Salisbury Steak recipe made with ground beef and served with a savory sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add beef broth, ketchup, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth, then stir into the broth mixture. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.
- Serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice, spooning extra sauce over the top.
Notes
- For a healthier version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
- Add sautéed mushrooms to the sauce for extra flavor and texture.
