Description
A delicious and indulgent dessert combining red velvet cake and creamy cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups red velvet cake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, melted butter, egg, and milk. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
- Once the cake has cooled, remove it from the pan and slice it in half horizontally to create two layers.
- Place one layer of the cake on a serving plate. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the top, then layer with half of the sliced strawberries.
- Place the second layer of cake on top and repeat the process with the remaining cream cheese mixture and strawberries.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a tablespoon of cocoa powder to the cream cheese mixture.
- You can also substitute the strawberries with raspberries or blueberries for a different fruity twist.
