- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup fresh or thawed frozen raspberries
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt, whisking them together until well blended.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it lightly for about a minute until it becomes soft.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- Evenly distribute the ground cinnamon and brown sugar over the surface, then scatter the raspberries on top.
- Carefully roll the dough from one long side to the other, forming a tight log.
- Slice the log into 8 equal portions and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
- Bake the swirls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden and puffed.
- While they bake, prepare the icing by mixing the powdered sugar with milk until you achieve a smooth consistency, adjusting with more milk as necessary.
- Once the swirls are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly before drizzling the icing over the top.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar in the dough.
- Feel free to add nuts or other fruits for additional texture and flavor.
- These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
