Description

A quick and flavorful Korean beef rice bowl that combines ground beef, rice, and fresh vegetables for a delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. While the beef mixture is cooking, steam the broccoli florets until tender, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. To serve, place a scoop of cooked rice in a bowl, top with the Korean beef mixture, and add steamed broccoli. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a teaspoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the beef mixture.
  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
