Description
A quick and flavorful Korean beef rice bowl that combines ground beef, rice, and fresh vegetables for a delicious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 cup broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- While the beef mixture is cooking, steam the broccoli florets until tender, about 4-5 minutes.
- To serve, place a scoop of cooked rice in a bowl, top with the Korean beef mixture, and add steamed broccoli. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add a teaspoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the beef mixture.
- Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
