Description
Pizza Grilled Cheese is a delicious twist on traditional comfort food, combining the flavors of pizza with the gooey goodness of a grilled cheese sandwich.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 slices of bread (your choice, such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce
- 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni (or your favorite pizza toppings)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. While the skillet is warming, spread the softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the bread in the skillet.
- Spoon the pizza sauce over the cheese, then add the sliced pepperoni and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and place the second slice of bread on top, butter side up.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom slice is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.
Notes
- To enhance your Pizza Grilled Cheese, try adding fresh basil or spinach for a pop of color and flavor.
- You can also experiment with different cheeses like cheddar or provolone for a unique taste.
- For a healthier option, use whole grain bread and low-fat cheese.
