Description

Pizza Grilled Cheese is a delicious twist on traditional comfort food, combining the flavors of pizza with the gooey goodness of a grilled cheese sandwich.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices of bread (your choice, such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni (or your favorite pizza toppings)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. While the skillet is warming, spread the softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
  3. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the bread in the skillet.
  4. Spoon the pizza sauce over the cheese, then add the sliced pepperoni and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  5. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and place the second slice of bread on top, butter side up.
  6. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom slice is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.

Notes

  • To enhance your Pizza Grilled Cheese, try adding fresh basil or spinach for a pop of color and flavor.
  • You can also experiment with different cheeses like cheddar or provolone for a unique taste.
  • For a healthier option, use whole grain bread and low-fat cheese.
