Description
Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are a delicious twist on the classic cheesesteak, combining ground beef with savory vegetables and melted provolone cheese, all served on a toasted bun.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup mushrooms, diced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and diced mushrooms, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and well combined.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly if desired.
- Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and top with the other half. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the meat mixture.
- You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
