Description

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are a delicious twist on the classic cheesesteak, combining ground beef with savory vegetables and melted provolone cheese, all served on a toasted bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, diced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and diced mushrooms, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and well combined.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns lightly if desired.
  8. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and top with the other half. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the meat mixture.
  • You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
