Description
A festive and colorful twist on traditional deviled eggs, perfect for patriotic celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 large eggs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Fresh parsley or chives for garnish
Instructions
- Place the eggs in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover the pot, remove it from heat, and let it sit for 12 minutes.
- After 12 minutes, transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool for at least 5 minutes. This will make peeling easier.
- Once the eggs are cool, gently tap them on a hard surface and peel off the shells. Rinse the eggs under cold water to remove any shell bits.
- Slice each egg in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks. Place the yolks in a mixing bowl and set the egg whites aside.
- Mash the yolks with a fork and add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, white vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Divide the yolk mixture into three separate bowls. Leave one bowl plain, add red food coloring to the second bowl until you achieve a vibrant red color, and add blue food coloring to the third bowl until you reach a bright blue shade.
- Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill the egg whites with the red yolk mixture in a third of the eggs, the plain mixture in another third, and the blue mixture in the remaining eggs.
- Garnish each egg with a small piece of fresh parsley or chives for a festive touch.
- Chill the deviled eggs in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the yolk mixture.
- Substitute Greek yogurt for half of the mayonnaise for a healthier option.
