Description
Orange Crush Poke Cake is a refreshing and delicious dessert perfect for summer gatherings, featuring a moist cake infused with orange soda and topped with whipped cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup Orange Crush soda
- 1 (3-ounce) package orange-flavored gelatin
- 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
- 1 cup orange slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Gently fold in the Orange Crush soda until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the orange-flavored gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved. Pour the gelatin mixture evenly over the poked cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
- Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
- Once chilled, spread the whipped topping over the top of the cake. Garnish with orange slices if desired.
- Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- For a fun twist, try using different flavored sodas like lemon-lime or grape for a unique poke cake experience.
- You can also add a layer of cream cheese frosting instead of whipped topping for a richer flavor.
