Description

Orange Crush Poke Cake is a refreshing and delicious dessert perfect for summer gatherings, featuring a moist cake infused with orange soda and topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Orange Crush soda
  • 1 (3-ounce) package orange-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • 1 cup orange slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Gently fold in the Orange Crush soda until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  7. In a small bowl, dissolve the orange-flavored gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved. Pour the gelatin mixture evenly over the poked cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
  8. Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
  9. Once chilled, spread the whipped topping over the top of the cake. Garnish with orange slices if desired.
  10. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, try using different flavored sodas like lemon-lime or grape for a unique poke cake experience.
  • You can also add a layer of cream cheese frosting instead of whipped topping for a richer flavor.
