Description
Miso-Glazed Black Cod is a delicious and flavorful dish that features tender black cod fillets marinated in a savory miso mixture, then baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 (6-ounce) black cod fillets
- 1/2 cup white miso paste
- 1/4 cup sake
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- Cooked rice (for serving)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the white miso paste, sake, mirin, brown sugar, soy sauce, and sesame oil until smooth.
- Place the black cod fillets in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the miso marinade over the fish, ensuring all fillets are well-coated. Cover or seal and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, up to 48 hours for deeper flavor.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Remove the black cod from the marinade, gently wiping off excess marinade with a paper towel. Place the fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Serve the miso-glazed black cod over cooked rice, garnished with sliced green onions.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, broil the black cod for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
- Substitute black cod with salmon or halibut for a different taste while keeping the marinade the same.
