A delicious Marinated Salumi Sandwich featuring layers of cured meats, cheese, and roasted red peppers, all marinated for enhanced flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of ciabatta bread (about 12 inches)
- 4 ounces of salami, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces of capicola, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces of mortadella, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces of provolone cheese, sliced
- 1/2 cup of roasted red peppers, sliced
- 1/4 cup of fresh basil leaves
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
- Slice the ciabatta bread in half lengthwise and drizzle a little of the marinade on both cut sides.
- Layer the salami, capicola, mortadella, and provolone cheese evenly on the bottom half of the ciabatta.
- Add the roasted red peppers and fresh basil leaves on top of the cheese.
- Drizzle more of the marinade over the toppings, then place the top half of the ciabatta on the sandwich.
- Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, slice the sandwich into individual portions and serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or a spread of spicy mustard to the sandwich.
- Substitute the provolone cheese with mozzarella or a sharp cheddar for a different flavor profile.
