Description

Savory Honey-Glazed Meatloaf that combines the sweetness of honey and smoky BBQ sauce for a delicious comfort food experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup diced yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup smoky BBQ sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • For the glaze: 1/4 cup smoky BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a spacious bowl, mix together the ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, diced onion, buttermilk, tomato sauce, honey, smoky BBQ sauce, egg, onion powder, sea salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until just combined.
  3. Spoon the meat mixture into a loaf pan, molding it into a classic loaf shape.
  4. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the smoky BBQ sauce and honey to create the glaze.
  5. Apply half of the glaze generously over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Place the loaf in the oven and bake for 1 hour.
  7. After the first 30 minutes, brush the remaining glaze on top of the meatloaf.
  8. Continue baking until the internal temperature hits 160°F.
  9. Once done, allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an extra burst of flavor, consider folding in some finely chopped bell peppers or mushrooms into the meat mixture.
  • If you’re in the mood for some heat, a teaspoon of chili powder or a dash of hot sauce in the glaze can elevate the dish.
