Description
Grilled Octopus with Lemon and Herbs is a flavorful dish that combines tender octopus with a zesty marinade, perfect for grilling.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds octopus, cleaned
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges for serving
Instructions
- Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add the octopus and cook for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until tender. You can check for tenderness by piercing the thickest part with a fork. Once cooked, remove the octopus and let it cool slightly.
- While the octopus is cooling, prepare the marinade. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Cut the cooled octopus into manageable pieces, about 2 to 3 tentacles each. Place the octopus pieces in the marinade and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Once hot, place the marinated octopus on the grill. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until you see nice grill marks and the octopus is heated through.
- Remove the octopus from the grill and sprinkle with fresh parsley and oregano. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, try adding a few drops of liquid smoke to the marinade.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, include a pinch of red pepper flakes in the marinade.
