Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup brewed espresso, cooled
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the sugar, butter, and dark chocolate chips. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cooled espresso, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring continuously until smooth.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- Slowly fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of instant coffee granules to the batter.
- Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
