Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings, five-spice powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Toss to coat the wings evenly. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for more flavor.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, and baking powder. This will create a light and crispy coating.
- Remove the chicken wings from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- Dredge each wing in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Ensure each wing is well coated.
- In a large pot or deep fryer, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F. Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- Carefully add the wings to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through, turning occasionally.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the wings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or sweet chili sauce.

- For extra crunch, double-dip the wings by dipping them back into the flour mixture after the first fry and frying them again for an additional 2-3 minutes.
