Description

Crock Pot Carne Asada Street Tacos are easy to make and packed with flavor, perfect for a delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (about 1 orange)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the flank steak.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the flank steak for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Transfer the seared steak to the crock pot. Pour the lime juice and orange juice over the steak.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  5. Once cooked, remove the steak from the crock pot and shred it using two forks. Mix in the chopped cilantro.
  6. Warm the corn tortillas in a skillet or microwave.
  7. Assemble the tacos by placing shredded carne asada on each tortilla. Top with diced onions, tomatoes, and avocado slices. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For added flavor, marinate the flank steak in the spice mixture and juices overnight before cooking.
  • Try adding pickled jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce for extra heat.
