A delicious and easy recipe for Crispy Chicken Parmesan, featuring breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese.

- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound total)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for frying
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness of about 1/2 inch. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in a second dish, and put the breadcrumbs in a third dish.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the fried chicken breasts on top, then spoon the remaining marinara sauce over each piece. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, try baking the breaded chicken instead of frying it.
- You can customize the recipe by adding sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms on top of the chicken before adding the marinara sauce.
