Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (plus more for frying)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix well to ensure all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Gradually add the warm water and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. After resting, divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  5. In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  6. Carefully place one rolled dough circle into the hot oil. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Repeat the frying process with the remaining dough circles.
  8. Once all buñuelos are fried, dust them generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes
