Description
A savory and creamy beef pasta dish that combines ground beef, penne pasta, and a rich sauce made with heavy cream and Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the penne pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a deep skillet, warm the olive oil over medium heat and add the chopped onion. Sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Season with dried Italian herbs, sea salt, and black pepper. Pour in the beef broth and simmer for around 5 minutes.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
- Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For a healthier alternative, swap ground beef for ground turkey and use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- Enhance the dish by adding vegetables such as spinach or bell peppers, sautéing them alongside the onions.
