Description

Cranberry Orange Rolls are a delightful sweet treat perfect for the holiday season, combining the tartness of cranberries with the zesty flavor of orange.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, egg, orange zest, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well blended.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped cranberries.
  6. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute until it comes together.
  7. Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into strips or squares and place them in the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pan.
  9. While the rolls are cooling, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar and orange juice in a small bowl until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the milk with orange juice.
  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch and flavor.
