Description
A festive layered dessert combining gingerbread cookies, cream cheese, and whipped topping, perfect for Christmas celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups crushed gingerbread cookies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
- 1 cup red and green M&M’s or holiday sprinkles
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the crushed gingerbread cookies and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form the crust.
- In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust in the baking dish.
- Layer the whipped topping over the cream cheese mixture, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the red and green M&M’s or holiday sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, and chopped nuts (if using) evenly over the whipped topping.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon with a tablespoon of sugar, then sprinkle it over the top layer for added flavor.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Before serving, cut into squares and enjoy your festive treat!
Notes
- For a lighter version, use reduced-fat cream cheese and sugar-free whipped topping.
- You can also substitute the gingerbread cookies with crushed sugar cookies for a different flavor.
