Description

A delicious and indulgent Chocolate Caramel Toffee Poke Cake that combines rich chocolate flavor with caramel and toffee bits, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup toffee bits (such as Heath or Skor)
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • Chocolate shavings or additional toffee bits for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined (the batter will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  7. Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a fork, poke holes all over the top of the warm cake.
  8. Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
  9. Sprinkle the toffee bits over the top of the cake.
  10. Allow the cake to cool completely, then spread the whipped topping over the top.
  11. Garnish with chocolate shavings or additional toffee bits if desired.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a layer of chocolate ganache on top of the whipped topping.
  • You can also substitute the toffee bits with crushed Oreos or nuts for a different texture and taste.
