A delicious and indulgent Chocolate Caramel Toffee Poke Cake that combines rich chocolate flavor with caramel and toffee bits, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup toffee bits (such as Heath or Skor)
- 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
- Chocolate shavings or additional toffee bits for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined (the batter will be thin).
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a fork, poke holes all over the top of the warm cake.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
- Sprinkle the toffee bits over the top of the cake.
- Allow the cake to cool completely, then spread the whipped topping over the top.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or additional toffee bits if desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a layer of chocolate ganache on top of the whipped topping.
- You can also substitute the toffee bits with crushed Oreos or nuts for a different texture and taste.
