Description

Cheesy Texas Toast is irresistibly buttery, garlicky, and loaded with melted mozzarella cheese, making it a perfect side dish or snack.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick-cut bread (Texas toast or similar)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Place the slices butter-side up on a baking sheet.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over each slice of bread, followed by a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes if using.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a herbaceous twist, add fresh chopped basil or oregano to the garlic butter mixture.
  • To make it a complete meal, top the cheesy toast with sliced tomatoes or cooked bacon before baking.
