Description

Cheesesteak-Style Sloppy Joes are a delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe, featuring ground beef, bell peppers, onions, and melted provolone cheese, all served on a toasted bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until melted and well incorporated.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the cheesesteak mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then place the top half on.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce to the meat mixture.
  • You can also substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
