- 2 cups vanilla pudding (prepared, store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix (plus ingredients needed to prepare)
- 1 cup chocolate ganache (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup sliced strawberries (optional for garnish)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the yellow cake mix according to package instructions and bake in a 9×13 inch pan. Allow it to cool completely.
- Once the cake is cool, cut it into 1-inch cubes.
- In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- In a large trifle dish or individual serving cups, layer half of the cake cubes at the bottom.
- Spoon half of the prepared vanilla pudding over the cake cubes, followed by half of the whipped cream.
- Drizzle half of the chocolate ganache over the whipped cream layer.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake cubes, vanilla pudding, whipped cream, and chocolate ganache.
- If desired, top with sliced strawberries and chopped nuts for garnish.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a lighter version, use sugar-free pudding and whipped topping.
- Add a layer of fresh fruit, such as bananas or blueberries, for added flavor and texture.
