Apple Pie Biscuits are a delightful twist on traditional apple pie, combining the flavors of apple pie filling with flaky biscuit dough.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup apple pie filling (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sugar (for topping)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 cup sugar until well combined.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the milk and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
- Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the apple pie filling with the cinnamon. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the filling onto the center of each biscuit.
- Fold the edges of the biscuit over the filling to create a pocket, pinching to seal.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the biscuits. Sprinkle with the remaining tablespoon of sugar.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a twist, add a teaspoon of nutmeg or allspice to the apple pie filling for extra flavor.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for a delicious dessert.
