Description

A delightful and refreshing dessert featuring layers of angel food cake, mixed berries, yogurt, and whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2 cups fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 prepared angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and the vanilla extract. Toss gently to coat the berries and let them sit for about 15 minutes to release their juices.
  2. In a separate large bowl, whip the heavy cream with the remaining 3/4 cup of granulated sugar until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  3. In a trifle dish or a large glass bowl, layer half of the angel food cake cubes at the bottom. Spoon half of the yogurt over the cake, followed by half of the berry mixture. Then, add half of the whipped cream on top.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining angel food cake, yogurt, berries, and whipped cream.
  5. Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with whipped coconut cream or use a low-fat yogurt.
  • Add a layer of crushed graham crackers or granola for extra crunch and texture.
